Air India flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 carrying 242 people, crashed after taking off from Ahmedabad on its way to London.

On June 12, the London-bound aircraft crashed into the nearby campus of a medical college in Meghani Nagar area and burst into flames, moments after it took off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad.

Following the Ahmedabad Air India crash and a lone survivor, the notion of a 'safest seat' is questioned. Experts emphasize that survival hinges on numerous factors beyond seat location, including aircraft design and passenger behavior.

Chaired by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, the panel has the civil aviation secretary and the additional secretary in the home ministry as members, according to an order dated June 13.

Tthe Gatwick Airport-bound flight was carrying 242 passengers and crew. Of those, Air India said there were 169 Indians, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese and one Canadian.
