LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Zeke Mayo scored 23 points and No. 11 Kansas held Arizona State to 13 in the second half of a 74-55 victory Wednesday night.

Arizona State led 42-36 at the break, capitalizing on early opportunities and a balanced attack. But Kansas came out of the locker room firing on all cylinders, opening the second half with an 11-0 run to seize their first lead of the game. From that point, the Sun Devils never regained their footing.

The Jayhawks’ defense was lacking in the first half, allowing Arizona State to shoot 46.7% from the field. The Sun Devils’ 42 points in the first half was the most a team has scored against KU this season. Jayhawks coach Bill Self must have delivered one heck of a halftime speech, because KU’s defense was phenomenal in the second half.

Will Kansas basketball be able to earn another victory during Big 12 Conference play this week? The Jayhawks are going to go up against Arizona State.

The No. 11-ranked Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball team is set to face Arizona State on Wednesday. KU beat UCF on Sunday, while Arizona State defeated Colorado on Saturday. Arizona State has won the last two games in this series, which took place December 2018 and 2017.
