According to California Lottery's website late Tuesday night, a ticket worth $1,214,818 was sold at the Lake Liquor in Woodlake, an area about an hour drive from Fresno. The news comes as Mega Millions held a drawing for the then-top prize of $303 million.

A Mega Millions ticket sold in California won $1.2 million and narrowly missed the $303 million jackpot, lottery officials say. The ticket matched five winning numbers, but not the Mega Ball, in the drawing Tuesday, Nov. 5, the national Mega Millions site said.
