Mexico is the clear favorite headed into the match, as the reigning champions of the tournament and with an untarnished record against the Dominican Republic.

This is the first time the Dominican Republic has ever competed in the Gold Cup, and their first top-tier international tournament since the Pan American Games in 2023.
