Months after the storm devastated Western North Carolina, the state has released the official list of names of those who died.

North Carolina officials are sharing a comprehensive list of the names of those confirmed killed in Hurricane Helene for the first time since the storm ravaged parts of the state. Hundreds of people died across multiple states in the late September 2024 storm -- including at least 104 people in North Carolina alone.

For months, the public has relied mainly on individual reports of loved ones killed by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina but state officials now have released their official record.

FEMA has extended the deadline to Jan. 28, 2025, for SC residents filing damage claims from Hurricane Helene damage. Helene struck the state in late September.

Homeowners and renters in Florida who experienced losses or damage from Hurricane Milton or Helene have one day remaining to apply for FEMA assistance.

If you were impacted by Hurricane Helene or Hurricane Milton time is running out to get help from FEMA. The deadline to apply for assistance is Tues., Jan. 7, 2025. In the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast the closest location to apply in person is in Indian River County at the IG Center located on 9th St.
