Leadership from the Kansas City Royals and 29 other MLB teams has gathered in Orlando for this year's Winter Meetings, where executives can discuss trade options and possible free-agent moves and speak to reporters about their offseason plans.
The Royals reportedly agreed to terms with veteran outfielder Lane Thomas, per multiple outlets. The move comes hours after Mike Yastrzemski — who played with KC this past season and was one of the Royals’ top free agents — signed with the Atlanta Braves.
The Kansas City Royals remained busy on Friday afternoon as they signed veteran reliever Jose Cuas to a minor-league deal. Cuas, 31, returns to the Royals after spending last season in the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves organizations. He last pitched in the majors in 2024 with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Royals’ AL Central foe, the Chicago White Sox, won the draft lottery and were awarded the first pick. Chicago had the highest chance to get that top pick with a 27.7% chance. Another AL Central opponent, the Minnesota Twins, were given the third pick in 2026.
The Royals have found success with the sixth pick. The club picked Jac Caglianone with the selection in the 2024 MLB Draft. Last season, Caglianone made his MLB debut and finished with seven home runs and 18 RBIs in 62 games.
