Authorities identified the inmate involved in the assault as Rashawn Cannon. He was transferred to a different facility while the investigation continues.

An investigation is underway into the death of an Ohio corrections officer. Officials say Officer Andrew Lansing was attacked by an inmate on Christmas morning at the Ross Correctional Institution, in Chillicothe. The prison says Lansing died as a result of the attack. Officials did not name the inmate involved, or say what led up to the attack.
