Verizon Communications (VZ) came out with quarterly earnings of $1.10 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.09 per share. This compares to earnings of $1.08 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

United Bankshares Inc. (UBSI) on Friday reported fourth-quarter net income of $94.4 million. The bank, based in Charleston, West Virginia, said it had earnings of 69 cents per share. The results surpassed Wall Street expectations.

The Anchorage, Alaska-based bank said it had earnings of $1.95 per share. The holding company for Northrim Bank posted revenue of $54.8 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $43.

The holding company for Parke Bank posted revenue of $34.5 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $16.8 million, which beat Street forecasts.
