Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair escaped ejection Sunday night, and he escaped a suspension for Week 3. Al-Shaair was fined about $11,000 for punching Bears running back Roschon Johnson, Aaron Wilson of KPRC reports.

HOUSTON – Texans veteran middle linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair was fined roughly $11,000 by the NFL for punching Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson. Al-Shaair told KPRC 2 he plans to accept the fine and isn’t going to appeal.

Al-Shaair tumbled onto the Bears’ sideline in the third quarter after delivering a big — and potentially late — hit on rookie quarterback Caleb Williams as he ran out of bounds. The bigger offense occurred, though, when Al-Shaiir stood up in a swarm of worked-up Bears players and immediately threw a punch at Johnson, a bystander in the situation.
