Goldman Sachs said on Wednesday that copper shipments into the United States are expected to accelerate in the coming weeks following U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of a 50% tariff on imported copper.

For India – the world’s largest supplier of generic medicines to the United States and an emerging player in copper-based manufacturing – the implications are significant.

This copper tariff marks the fourth general tariff imposed by Trump during his second term. Previously, imported automobiles and parts faced a 25% tariff, while steel and aluminum imports were subjected to a 50% tariff.
