Authorities say they are investigating the cause of the crash off island located near Perth, Western Australia.

A light aircraft crashed near Rottnest Island off the Western Australian city of Perth killing two tourists from Switzerland and Denmark and the pilot, authorities said on Wednesday.

A seaplane has crashed into the ocean just off the coast of Rottnest Island in Western Australia on Tuesday. Police said in a statement they were advised that a privately-owned aircraft had hit the water near Thomson Bay at about 4pm (AWST). Officers and a number of civilian vessels are currently at the scene attempting to help in the rescue.

As per multiple media reports, the plane had struck a rock at the entrance of a bay on the west side of the island. However, the officials could not confirm from the viral video viewed so far.
