ARLINGTON, Texas — The White Sox acquired right-handed starter Aaron Civale and cash from the Brewers on Friday for first baseman Andrew Vaughn. General manager Chris Getz said the organization had been doing a status check on Civale after learning that he had requested a trade from the Brewers.

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Aaron Civale is moving to a bullpen role for the first time in his seven-year career.

Civale, 30, is 1-2 with a 4.91 ERA this season.

Cyd Smillie had the design and started adding Pope Leo XIV to the mural before he donned a White Sox cap at the Vatican earlier this week.

Rate Field will be packed on Saturday, but not to see the White Sox play ball.

Leo will also be represented in mural form.

Smith carries a four-game streak with at least one hit into this contest. During his last five outings he is batting .381 with two doubles, a home run, two walks and three RBIs.
