Emergency crews have responded to hundreds of calls, including rescuing a pregnant woman on her way to the hospital.

Alerts rang out on phones in DeKalb County on Wednesday morning, notifying of a State of Emergency and urging people to shelter in place and stay off the roads.It comes with ongoing hazardous ice conditions on roads around metro Atlanta following the snowfall on Tuesday that quickly iced over with freezing temperatures.

“DeKalb County is now experiencing winter weather in the form of an extreme cold front with dangerously low temperatures, snow and ice accumulation, including black ice on roadways, that could impact the county through Thursday, Jan. 23, or longer as subfreezing temperatures may continue through the week,” the State of Emergency reads, in part.
