An initial investigation revealed the Kia was traveling southbound on Kedzie Avenue at a high rate of speed, when it struck the hearse, which was heading eastbound on 183rd Street, authorities said.
Police say someone speeding in a stolen Kia crashed into the hearse at 183rd and Kedzie around 8:30 a.m. Friday. The casket, which had a body inside, was tossed from the hearse.
According to a news release from the Village of Homewood, a silver Kia that was reported stolen from Chicago Heights was traveling at “a high rate of speed” when it struck a white Cadillac hearse.
