The Climate Adaptation Center predicts 17 named storms and 10 hurricanes for the 2025 hurricane season. The Sarasota-Manatee area was hit particularly hard in 2024 by hurricanes and tropical storms.

The forecast for Sarasota and Manatee counties remains the same, however. The area can expect 5-10 inches of rain, with up to 15 inches in localized areas, and strong hurricane-force winds.

The heat index, or “feels like” temperature in Sarasota-Bradenton last Wednesday topped out at 105, just one notch below the record.
