For the second year in a row – and the second time this year – snowflakes fell in Florida.

“An intense surge of arctic air behind the coastal storm will send below freezing temperatures down toward South Florida by Sunday morning.”

As millions of Americans hunker down for a massive winter storm sweeping the country, new maps are offering updated forecasts of snow and ice accumulations.

Snow fell on the East Coast and parts of the South ( including Florida!) on Saturday, Jan. 31, amid what storm meteorologists have described as a bomb cyclone , nor'easter and a blizzard.

Up to 8 inches of snow could fall in North Carolina, with its coast and Virginia's experiencing blizzard conditions, forecasters said.

Snowfall has begun to move into north Georgia and will continue to spread south into metro Atlanta through the day.
