Steve Witkoff, President Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East, may travel to the region on Sunday if indirect talks between Israel and Hamas on a second phase of a ceasefire deal show

President Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East is set to return to the region to negotiate an extension on the first phase of the cease-fire deal — as the temporary truce nears a breaking point over Hamas’ barbaric displays during the hostage handoffs.

The U.S. Middle East envoy told an American Jewish Committee event that an Israeli delegation will travel in the coming days to Doha or Cairo to negotiate the next stage of the deal, Ravid wrote. Qatar and Egypt have acted as mediators in the talks.

Witkoff acknowledged that, at this point, he is unsure how the negotiations will achieve the Israeli and US redline of Hamas having no role in Gaza's governing structure.
