David Moyes suffered defeat on his return as Everton manager after Ollie Watkins' second-half strike secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Goodison Park.

Everton kicked off their reign under David Moyes with a defeat at the hand of Aston Villa at Goodison Park. Ollie Watkins scored the only goal of the game five minutes into the second-half.

David Moyes' return as Everton manager failed to muster a response from the toothless Toffees in a 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa on Wednesday.But there was no new manager bounce as Villa took control inside the opening minutes.
