With just two PGA Tour events left, the second FedExCup playoff tournament tees off Thursday in Maryland, as the BMW Championship brings together the top 50 golfers in the standings — and with them, plenty of intriguing storylines from the very first round.
Robert MacIntyre entered the day with a four-shot lead and after two holes, that lead is just one. MacIntyre made bogey on the par-4 first and the par-3 second, dropping him back to 14 under, while World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler went birdie-par to get to 13 under.
McIlroy has had an up-and-down week at Caves Valley, from day-to-day and from hole-to-hole. After a 4-under 66 on Friday, he turned in a rollercoaster round of 71 on Saturday which features four birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey.
