Looking right at Donald Trump on Friday afternoon in the Oval Office, Gov. Kathy Hochul tried a different approach from telling him he was acting like a king for his attempt to end New York’s pay-for-entry congesting pricing system.

"The federal government might say, 'You're fired,' but here in New York, we say, 'You're hired,' " said Gov. Kathy Hochul in a news release.

Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado (D-NY) announced he would not seek reelection in 2026 after publicly breaking from his 2022 running mate, Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY), on several issues. Delgado was appointed to the position in 2022 and won a full term alongside Hochul in November of that year,

A spokesperson for Hochul’s office issued a critical statement, claiming Delgado is uninterested in his role. If he remains in office, the lieutenant governor race could become competitive. Delgado has not announced future plans but hinted at exploring options.
