Five leading men made the cut for Best Actor at the 2025 Oscars: Adrien Brody (The Brutalist), Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Ralph Fiennes (Conclave), and Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice).

Timothée Chalamet's Oscar nomination on Jan. 23 makes him the youngest two-time Best Actor nominee at the Academy Awards since James Dean received two posthumous nominations in the two years immediately following his death in 1955 at 24.

But at first sight, Chalamet’s stint as the frontman of a Dylan cover band coinciding with his Best Actor campaign was less loosey-goose anything-goes ’70s style than akin to the more nakedly promotional Garth-Brooks-as-Chris-Gaines type of deal.
