Illinois State Police are investigating the shooting death of a person in Bloomington by the city's police department.

A person is dead Tuesday afternoon after an officer-involved shooting near the 700 block of Fairmont Drive in Bloomington. Bryce Janssen, a spokesman for the Bloomington Police Department said the shooting took place around 4:45 p.

The suspect shot and killed his girlfriend, her 13-year-old son and her friend before fatally shooting himself.

According to Bloomington Police, officers were called to the 700 block of Fairmont Drive around 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, after several witnesses reported seeing someone armed with a weapon. Officers made contact with the armed suspect upon arrival. Police say as the situation progressed, officers began firing their weapons and shot the suspect.
