While votes are still being counted, voter turnout in the 2024 presidential election is on track to be on par with the historically large 2020 presidential election. As a majority of voters mailed their ballots in for the 2020 presidential election,

Fewer than 78% of the state’s 5 million registered voters cast ballots in the Nov. 5 election, the lowest turnout since 2000, when just 75.5% participated.

Iowa, a state with a similar number of people eligible to vote, had a turnout rate of 71% compared to Oklahoma's 53.4%. Iowa had a 20-day early voting window when voters in the state could vote at their county auditor's office or by mail.

On Election Day, only 58.55% of registered voters in Alabama turned out to the polls, marking one of the lowest voter turnouts for a presidential election in over 30 years, according to data from the Alabama Secretary of State's Office.
