The Philadelphia Eagles were committed to re-signing Zack Baun in free agency and on Wednesday they made good on that goal, agreeing to terms on a three-year contract with the All-Pro linebacker. The deal is worth $51 million,

It is a pertinent piece of criticism as we consider Howie Roseman’s brave new world. Once upon a time it was said that a smart general manager saves resources at running back and linebacker in order to reinvest them elsewhere.

It also makes it more difficult for the Eagles to keep their other three top pending free agents in defensive linemen Milt Williams and Josh Sweat, and right guard Mekhi Becton. Free agency begins Monday at noon, with deals official beginning Wednesday at 4 p.m.
