30-60 cm: Warnings continue for strong snow squalls, dangerous travel in Ontario
Treacherous travel is likely across parts of southern Ontario through the weekend, as powerful snow squalls affect heavily travelled highways. Snow squall watches and warnings are in effect, as well as winter weather travel advisories for the deteriorating and dangerous conditions.
Snow squall warnings still in effect in parts of southern Ontario as some areas see up to 80 cm
The national weather agency warns towns just east of Lake Huron such as Kincardine, North Perth and Hanover that “snowfall amounts of 60 cm are possible by Saturday evening, with higher amounts possible if snow squalls lock over one area.”
What is a Snow Squall?
Severe winter weather is not the most common occurrence for many areas in the Roanoke Valley and Southwest and Central Virginia. However, during the early evening of January 3, the National Weather Service in Blacksburg (NWS) issued a Snow Squall Warning for areas from Pulaski to Roanoke.
