Microsoft has announced that the final day it will offer security support for Word, Excel, and Powerpoint on Windows 10 will be Oct. 14.

Microsoft has now made it clear that support for Microsoft 365 on Windows 10 will cease at the same time as support for the older operating system.

Microsoft has started the automatic rollout of Windows 11 version 24H2, also known as the Windows 11 2024 Update, to eligible devices. The update process started on Jan. 16, 2025, and as of now, it is for non-managed systems that use Windows 11 Home and Pro editions, as reported by Windows Latest.

“Microsoft 365 Apps will no longer be supported after October 14, 2025, on Windows 10 devices,” the company confirmed. “To use Microsoft 365 Applications on your device, you will need to upgrade to Windows 11.”

Windows 10 isn't the only Microsoft product that is due to lose support this coming October. In a blog post published Wednesday, the software giant said Microsoft 365 apps (aka Office) will no longer be supported in Windows 10 after Oct. 14, 2025. To continue using Microsoft 365 or Office, the company urges users to upgrade to Windows 11.
