The EU is one of Pakistan's largest trading partners and a significant source of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Pakistan. The EU accounts for a substantial share of Pakistan's exports, particularly in the sectors of textiles and garments.

With the prolonged and worsening COVID-19 crisis, the fight against terrorism and radicalisation, and the growing international tensions in the region and worldwide, it is more important than ever for the EU to deepen its ties with a country like Pakistan.

Highlighting the importance of Pakistan-EU bilateral ties, the two sides agreed that regular high-level interactions have provided a new impetus to the relationship and underlined the necessity for close cooperation and dialogue amid rapidly changing geopolitical landscape.
