The current version of Krita is developed with Qt 5 and KDE Frameworks 5. It is designed primarily for concept artists, illustrators, matte and texture artists, and the VFX industry.

Krita is the only painting application that lets you open, save, edit and author HDR and scene-referred images. With OCIO and OpenEXR support, you can manipulate the view to examine HDR images.

Windows users can download Krita from the website, the Windows Store, or Steam. The versions on the Store and Steam cost money, but are functionally identical to the (free) website version.
