Nov 7, 2024 · Raymond H. Labua. Raymond H. “Chip” Labua, Jr., 78, of Jamestown, R.I., passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, at Newport Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Chip was born in Hartford, where he lived his early years before moving to Coventry, Conn. at age 8. He lived in Coventry for 55 years before moving full time to Jamestown in 2008.

Jun 8, 2023 · The financial town meeting was dispatched in less than 20 minutes Monday as 103 voters unanimously passed the $28.72 million budget for 2023-24, which begins July 1. They also approved $1.26 million in bonds to lease heavy equipment and upgrade the HVAC system at the police station. The property tax rate is estimated to increase.

Oct 31, 2024 · There currently is about $1 million allocated for road paving, which includes a grant of $295,000 through the same program. The contractor hired to pave roads in Jamestown, however, currently is working in other cities and towns throughout Rhode Island. Mello said there is about $90 million in scheduled municipal roadwork throughout the state.
