Happy vernal equinox! Equinox, or "equal night" in Latin, is the day that — twice each year — the sun crosses the celestial equator, and day and night are of equal length. In the Northern Hemisphere, the spring equinox also marks the beginning of fall in the Southern Hemisphere.
