January 31, 2021, marked the 50th anniversary of Providence St. Vincent Medical Center on SW Barnes Road. In 1971, Sr. Rita Ferschweiler championed the effort to move the hospital from NW Portland to a 40-acre property in rural Washington County. It was a bold and disruptive plan that paid off in countless ways for our growing community. Happy Anniversary Providence St. Vincent! Here's to the next 50 years.
