Metra recently installed a new safety feature on some Metra Highliners to prevent boarding and deboarding injuries. These safety features alert customers of the gap between the car and platform when level boarding on our Metra Electric District. A lighted strip on the floor, as well as a panel closer to eye level, provide visual reminders and an improved audible announcement informs customers to watch the gap.
