They have overlapping home ranges (or areas of activity) and can be attracted, by sense of smell, to the same carcass. They come onto the carcass, and squabble to create a loose hierarchy, that holds while they are together. They then disperse from each other and the pecking order breaks down. This squabbling has lead to the reputation of devils constantly fighting. #t
